What’s better than 12 hours of amazing youth talent? Not much. Youth Day Toronto turned 10 this Sunday, and it’s safe to say that it’s probably one of the best 10th birthdays we’ve ever been to!
After Toronto’s “Summer of the Gun” in 2005, Tylaine Duggan founded Youth Day to support and encourage youth involvement in all aspects of the arts: fashion, visual art, dance, music, and photography. From 11 in the morning to 11 at night, a section of one of Toronto’s busiest streets, Yonge Street is shut down and filled with street vendors while youth showcase their talent at Yonge and Dundas, whether it be on the main stage or at the art gallery for free. At six o’clock, there is a moment of silence for the young lives lost.
In previous years, artists such as Karl Wolf and Francesco Yates have performed at Youth Day Toronto. Here are some of our favourite performers from Youth Day 2016!
1. Diego Gomes

Last week, he released a new single, “Impossible”. On Sunday, he performed it live at Youth Day in front of a massive crowd! After winning The Next Star when he was 13, he’s been putting out great music since.
2. Sam Taylor & East End Love
Want an instant pick-me-up? Sam Taylor & East End Love’s music will instantly put you in an amazing mood with their catchy beats and funky sound that’ll make you want to get up and dance! Music like theirs is the type to turn you into a morning person.
3. Brianna Corona
Here’s a snippet of yesterday’s amazing cover of Sia’s “Alive”! Her strong voice immediately commands crowds, keeping everyone hooked from beginning to end. We can’t wait to hear more from her!
4. Liron

Another young and amazing talent, Liron is no stranger to stages and crowds – she’s hit some pretty high notes both with her voice and her career thus far. In addition to having performed at the Yonge-Dundas stage last night, she’s also sung for audiences at the Danforth Music Hall and the Opera House!
5. Uforia
A returning band from Youth Day 2015, they’ve only gotten better. Full of both incredible energy and talent every time they step onto a stage, they’re an awesome band to see live! If you plan on going to a Blue Jays game sometime, you just might hear their new song “Fight or Flight” playing at the Rogers Centre.
