During his initial years, Asit Kumarr Modi served as a lighting designer for Gujarati professional stage shows as well as handled the production and creative department of many serials in regional languages.
In 1995, he founded the television production company Neela Tele Films Private Limited (later known as Neela Film Productions). It started with the show Hum Sab Ek Hain.
In 2008, Asit Kumarr Modi started producing the Sony SAB sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (abbreviated as TMKOC). The show has the Guinness World Record for the longest-running Indian daily sitcom on television by episode count. TMKOC has also been a recipient of multiple accolades including the Indian Television Academy Award, Indian Telly Award, and Star Guild Award.
