Salt Papi has been one of the unlikely success stories from this new era of influencer boxing.

Prior to his flourishing boxing career, he was a nurse and began making dancing and 'fake running' videos on social media that quickly grew in popularity.

This was before he had his first influencer boxing fight against fellow social media star Halal Ham.

"I was invited by Showstar Boxing when I was blowing up and I was new in social media," Salt Papi explained to talkSPORT.

"I didn't want to do it at first, because I had a full-time job working as a nurse, but as I was going viral on social media, so I quit my job and I decided to have a go at boxing.

"I trained for a couple of weeks, I was training on the basketball court with my dad and we were watching YouTube tutorials together.

"I met my coach two weeks before the fight and now somehow I'm here."

By 'here', Salt Papi means having become one of the biggest names in influencer boxing after scoring some stunning knockouts in his last few fights.

He has impressed to such a degree that even professional boxers such as Chris Eubank Jr, Sunny Edwards, Ryan Garcia and even his fellow Filipino Manny Pacquiao have taken notice.

"It's amazing that I'm getting recognised by some of my idols. Manny Pacquiao was my idol growing up, so it's crazy," Salt Papi said.

"I was speechless [when he followed me on Instagram] and he was saying that he's going to have another fight again soon and he wants me to be his co-main event."

Before Salt Papi can get too excited about fighting on the same card as Pacquiao, he will first have to get past MMA fighter Anthony Taylor on Saturday night on the undercard of KSI vs Joe Fournier.

"If he comes out to me wild swinging he's going to get caught," he said in a simple message to his upcoming opponent.

Taylor is an extremely loud and brash character, but Salt Papi insists this has not been a problem, as he said: "It doesn't really affect me what he does, I'll still do what I do best and on Saturday night I'm going to put on a hell of a show."

After this fight, he has lofty ambitions. "I'm going to be taking on tougher and bigger challenges and follow what Jake Paul and KSI have been doing and become the face of Misfits boxing."

And it doesn't stop there, as in terms of potentially going pro in the future, he added: "Why not, as long as the money is right, I'm ready."
