John Stamos recently looked back on Matthew Perry’s kindness to him on the set of Friends when he guest starred. The former Full House cast member joined other celebrities in paying tribute to Perry, who passed away at 54 last Saturday. Stamos took to Instagram on Tuesday, sharing an anecdote from his guest appearance in the ninth season of the sitcom. In that episode, he nearly played a significant role in the lives of Chandler and Monica, played by Courteney Cox.
“Matthew and I had been friendly long before Friends. So, when I guest starred as Zach, the prospective sperm donor for Chandler and Monica, I hung with him a lot,” Stamos wrote. “Standing backstage, ready to make my entrance, Matt whispers, ‘The audience is going [to] go crazy when they see you! Get ready for some loud screams.’”
However, once Stamos stepped onto the stage, there wasn’t even a whisper.
The clip is from the episode, called “The One With the Donor”, according to Entertainment Weekly. “I was so embarrassed,” Stamos continued in the post. “We finish the scene and as I start to slither back to my dressing room and quit showbiz, Matt walks over to the studio audience: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for John Stamos! You guys probably didn’t recognize him at first because he’s so much better-looking in person!’” The moment meant a lot to Stamos. “I never forgot that and the world will never forget you,” he wrote.

On Monday, Perry’s longtime co-stars, including Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer, shared their profound sadness as a group.[The cast] are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew,” the joint statement read. ” We were more than just castmates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”
The main cast members further expressed their intention to provide additional updates in the upcoming days. “In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
In 2021, Perry joined his Friends cast for a special reunion on HBO Max. He also wrote a memoir called Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing last year, sharing his journey to stardom and battle with addiction candidly.
