Begay was a winner with two victories in both of his initial two seasons on the PGA Tour. In the period from late September until the beginning of July 2000, which is a span of less than 9 months. He scored 4 PGA Tour wins, with the third and fourth wins occurring in consecutive weeks. Since then, he has been suffering from back pain that caused his fate as professional golfer in question. The five players for the tournament were Begay, Stewart Cink, Vijay Singh, Camilo Villegas and Mike Weir. On August 24, 2009, the foundation hosted its second annual Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino.
