Jackass star Steve-O revealed details about a stunt that went horribly wrong, resulting in former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones cutting off a section of his ear.

The television personality connected with Jones over the summer of 2020 and they quickly became pals, with Steve-O - a big UFC fan - even incorporating the MMA star into one of his viral stunts.

A lot of MMA fighters suffer from a condition known as Cauliflower ear which is the result of a direct blow to the outer ear that causes blood or other fluids to gather in the affected area.

Steve-O was hoping to get Cauliflower ear without going through the years of training most MMA fighters do to get it, instead, he called on Jones to get the job done in double-quick time.

“Jon Jones got a try at giving me cauliflower ear. So we’re at Jon Jones’ house and he’s got barbells with the weights,” Steve-O recalled on Daniel Cormier’s Multifaceted podcast in June.

“We put my ear in between the weights and he’s like elbowing them. My ear comes out of there and he says, ‘that’s it, you’ve got it, that’s cauliflower ear’, and then a few days later, nothing happened.”

Steve-O once again called on Jones to help him get the UFC look and this time they took things up a level as ‘Bones’ used his light-heavyweight belt and a hammer to get the job done.

“So, the last thing we did on one of Jon Jones’ workout machines, I put my ear on like the metal base bar. He puts his belt, which at the time was the current light heavyweight championship belt,” he said.

“It was right after he defended the belt against Dominick Reyes. He puts in on my ear on this metal thing and he’s hitting it with a hammer - a full-blown, Home Depot hammer.”

Unfortunately, the stunt goes horribly wrong and results in the MMA icon using a pair of scissors to cut off a piece of the daredevil’s ear.

"It seems like everything’s cool and in this footage, it’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen. In this footage he hammers, hits it, and then all of a sudden, one hit, then blood just splatters from underneath this belt. We all freaked out,” Steve-O said.

“My ear is blasted to where a whole piece of my ear is just hanging down and it’s the most intense thing you’ve ever seen. We got a pair of scissors and just chopped off this whole piece of my ear. Jon did it. Jon chopped it, just one piece.”

Steve-O revealed he stopped hearing from Jones after that incident.

It may be because the MMA fighter was grossed out by what had happened, or the fact he’s locked himself away ahead of his eagerly anticipated heavyweight debut.

Jones hasn't fought since picking up a controversial win over Dominick Reyes in February 2020 and subsequently announcing his intention to move up a weight class.

The bulking-up process, a financial dispute with the UFC, and a distinct lack of viable opponents have kept him sidelined ever since.

However, Jones is expected to return at UFC 285 on March 4 and could well face the undisputed heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou.
